About the event

In this fun, unique and hands-on 90 minute beginners class at the wonderful Japaneasy Christmas Festival 2023, you will create beautiful nerikiri, a class of Japanese confectionery (wagashi) provided in the traditional Japanese tea ceremony. Almost too beautiful to eat, nerikiri are designed to engage all your senses!

You will learn about key ingredients such as sweet bean paste (anko), and how to use tools and techiniques to create beautiful Christmas themed wagashi that you can take home to enjoy. You can take them home with a matching green tea to enjoy. 

Come on a journey with us to an often overlooked part of Japanese cuisine and enjoy all the festivities at Japaneasy.

Note

  • Our sweets are all plant based, gluten-free, dairy-free and egg-free, but do advise if you have any allergies.
  • Please arrive at least 5 minutes before the start of the class.

WHAT TO BRING

  • All materials are provided and you will not make nerikiri dough during the class.

SUITABLE FOR 

  • Beginners Skill Level - for those new to Japanese confectionery and are looking for a new experience! Recommended for ages 13 and up. Those under 18 need to be accompanied by a paying adult.
